Rio Dulce, of Sweet River, staat bekend om veel dingen. De rivier is populair bij zeilboten die hopelijk geen andere watersporters plunderen zoals de piraten van weleer. De rivier stroomt uit het Izabalmeer, de plaats van het Castillo de San Felipe de Lara, een oud Spaans koloniaal fort dat is gebouwd om Caribische piraten uit de rivier te houden. De rivier heeft tegenwoordig een van de grootste bruggen in Midden-Amerika. Aan de ene kant van de brug staat Frontera, bekend om een ??groentemarkt waar veel shoppers aankomen in uitgegraven kano’s. Tijdens zijn reis naar het Caribisch gebied stroomt de rivier door een spectaculaire kloof met hoge muren. De rivier stroomt in de buurt van Livingston, een Garifuna-stad die alleen per boot te bereiken is.
Dit gaat voornamelijk over Monet, verwacht veel toeristen en lange wachtrijen. Maar laat dat je niet afschrikken om te bezoeken – in de uitgeklede, probleemloze tentoonstellingsruimten zijn enkele werkelijk verbluffende werken van de impressionistische meester te zien. Zijn acht gigantische ‘Waterlelies’ bezetten twee ovaalvormige kamers; geschilderd in de tuinen van zijn huis in Giverny, ze zijn prachtig en borderline trippy.

White Water Rafting op de Zambezi River: een van de beste plekken ter wereld voor wildwatervaren, dit is een niet te missen avontuurlijke activiteit bij Vic Falls. De British Canoe Union heeft de Zambezi bij Victoria Falls geclassificeerd als riviervlotten van klasse 5 met: “extreem moeilijke, lange en gewelddadige stroomversnellingen, steile hellingen, grote afdalingen en drukgebieden”. Wildwaterraften op de Zambezi is absoluut een adrenaline-opwekkende ervaring! Kies uit raftingtrips van een halve dag tot een hele of een hele dag over de Zambezi-rivier. Je navigeert door enkele van de beste stroomversnellingen ter wereld in de beroemde Batoka-kloof! De beste tijd om te gaan raften bij Vic Falls is tussen juli en februari wanneer het waterpeil laag is. Wildwaterraften sluiten de winkel rond april tot mei, afhankelijk van de regen.
